Going Retro: Old Testament, New Tune.
Join us for our Retro Fall Worship Kick-off right as we kick off a new sermon series entitled “Going Retro”. Retro dogs & floats (& a not-so-retro bounce house for the kids) right after worship on the front lawn. This is the perfect opportunity to bring a friend to worship!
Going Retro: Old Testament. New Tune.
Fall 2018 | Sun, September 9 – Sun, October 21
The Old Testament can seem angry and antiquated—misused to justify wars, exclude LGBTQ persons, neglect foreigners. We’d like to just stick with Jesus’ all-loving words, but the fulfillment of God’s love in Jesus only makes sense when we go retro, finding value in the old made new. Over 7 Sundays, we’ll wrestle with and retune 7 of the least liked, most misunderstood Old Testament books.
Sun, Sept 9 – Leviticus | Retuning the God of banishing judgement
Sun, Sept 16 – Deuteronomy | Retuning the God of rules & disappointment
Sun, Sept 23 – Proverbs | Retuning the God of prudence & morals
Sun, Sept 30 – Ecclesiastes | Retuning the God of senseless suffering
Sun, Oct 7 – Judges | Retuning the God of anger & violence
Sun, Oct 14 – Samuel | Retuning the God of distance & silence
Sun, Oct 21 – Kings | Retuning the God of power & corruption
